Ululani's is a Maui staple. There's few shave ice locations in the island that offer the fine shave of ice that Ululani's pulls off and definitely none that have ad many homemade flavors. We visit every time we're on the island but due to the unfortunate fire in Lāhainā, the Kihei location is the closest for those staying on the west side of the island. It's still worth the drive and the line - and yes the line moves slowly, but it's worth the wait. The flavors are incredible and if you're looking for inspiration they always have a few recommendations, crowd favorites and popular choices to offer. There are two sizes, but if you're not sharing the small is probably fine for everyone. If you're sharing opt for the large. They have a multitude of flavors so I won't even try to list them here. But there's something for everyone - aloha!

Always the best shave ice. The high rating and number of reviews does all the telling for this one. Best quality of shave ice, best distribution of syrup so you never have a plain bite, and if you do just go to the window for more syrup application. They have various flavor options, we tried the first of the try something new list and loved it of course. I only wish they were open later since I don't always eat it before dinner as a personal preference!!!

Loved the shaved ice and can see why it's so popular! It's definitely not your typical shaved ice place as the ice seems so much more smoother and creamier. The flavors taste so natural-- doesn't taste like syrup at all! The mochi topping is also a must! Beware of the chickens! Some are very aggressive and will jump on your table to take a chunk of your beloved dessert... There were kids who were feeding them even with warning signs which caused them to constantly bother us.

Best shaved ice on the island. So MANY flavors to choose from. I went with Habanero Mango. It did have a little heat. Really liked it. All it needed was a bit of Tajin. Maybe too much to ask for. Didn't like the lemon flavor. Not enough lemon flavor. The orange passion fruit was good. Service was fine and friendly. There was a long line. Very popular. Plenty of parking in back. Seating limited to five park benches. It was cool sharing the seating with other people. They also have an air conditioned souvenir shop next door. Mahalo!

A trip to Hawaii isn't complete without having shave ice at least once! They're quite popular so definitely expect to wait in line. There are a ton of flavors to choose from, so I found that scanning the menu and trying to strategically come up with a flavor combination killed a lot of time. They also have lots of sugar-free options! The portions are quite large, so the kids size was more than enough for me. It's the perfect light, afternoon treat! The ice is smooth and I didn't encounter any big chunks. It was super windy so it was a little uncomfortable having specks of sand being blown at us (and who knows how much I ingested) but the staff did a great job trying to keep up with wiping down the tables. I could see how it might be hard to find a spot to sit to enjoy your treat, but there seem to be a steady amount of people coming/going so we only had to wait a few minutes.

Came on Tuesday afternoon, busy but worth the wait. Got the citrus squeeze and vanilla ice cream. So fluffy and good.

So glad I finally got to visit Ululani's while in Maui. I had Mango, Cotton Candy, and Lychee, all very fresh and full of flavor. I had snow cap and mochi, which were chewy and a yummy pairing. Everyone loved what they got and said it was their favorite from the few we tried on Maui. Lines moved quickly with outdoor seating, service was quick.

Fantastic Treat - Fast - Fresh Perfect treat for a hot beach day. Shaved ice was never my thing, I just wanted fruit smoothies only but am really glad I gave this place a try. They have TONS of options and I went with a staff recommendation. Get the coconut!!!

Foegot to take a pic of our orders. Our second time here, had haleakala, chocolate with toasted coconut toppings, sunset beach, POG - flavors were all good, not too sweet and the syrup tasted like how the real fruit would taste like. Ice shavings are really what set them apart! Uulani's ice shavings are really smooth. I have not found one that can compete with their quality.

Hard to believe that we've never visited Ululani's Hawaiian Shave Ice, but it's true. Having a visitor who wanted to try shave ice, we decided to take her to the highest rated shave ice stand on the island. We pass this spot often and they are always busy. Such was the case when we arrived. Fortunately, the order line moved fairly quickly because people had plenty of time to make up their minds with what to order. There were lots of options to consider. Obviously, this is not your typical snow cone vendor. We all decided to shoot the works and get a specialty selection, The Sandman. Having placed our order, we sat at a picnic table and talked story with some delightful folks from Canada. Eventually, we were called up to the pickup window for our cool treats. The Sandman had a small scoop of Maui's Roselani Macadamia Nut ice cream under the mound of shave ice. It's down there, waiting for you to work your way to it. The mound of shave ice was layered with pineapple, mango and strawberry flavors. It was topped off with toasted coconut. It was cool and delicious. They guarantee that if you have any white ice, you need to bring it to the window and they will add topping. They provide you with a small, flat spoon to eat it, probably to slow you down to lessen the chance of getting an ice cream headache. Speaking of ice cream, the macnut ice cream, waiting in the bottom, provided a delightful ending. The Ulu (adult size) was more than enough to satisfy my sweet tooth.
